New Drawing. In biro. About having no money.

Short Story #1. The Dark.

As the train got closer and closer to London Dennis sensed the sky getting dark. The darkness of a city that to him represented misery and failure. The darkness of a city that had suppressed his once huge ambition and enthusiasm. The darkness that had slowly surrounded and engulfed all of his happiness and joy. The darkness that would hang over his head for months, maybe even years to come. The darkness of the city that had suddenly sucked all life from inside of him. The crippling dark. The hated dark. The dreaded dark.

Then Dennis realised they'd just been in a long tunnel.

Product of Popular Culture

Hello there ardent followers/accidental stumblers,

Have a little look at a piece of work that I did a couple of months ago that has been sitting in my loft, gathering dust!

I was inspired by the darn right wonderful work of Peter Blake after I saw 'Self Portrait With Badges' at the Tate Britain. Ive always loved his work, particularly his obsession with nostalgia and celebrity culture, a couple of things that I too find myself obsessing over.

So I set about producing something that would channel my admiration for him...it aint any great shakes but it made me happy for a while or two...

Nokia

Greetings friends,

Take a little peek at these photos of me drawing on the chalk walls at Nokia Design HQ in Soho a few weeks back. It was all for an exhibition that they were having here in London, and at Nokia in Helsinki, I was asked to spice the walls up with lots of rhubarb about the exhibition. I did loads of work for them on top of the wall drawings, including printed material and webpage bits and bobs. Im not gonna lie to you, it was a real blast.

Thanks to George and Laura at Nokia for directing the whole show, twas great working with them.

YCN, Virgin & The Beatles...

Gather round, gather round...

Here's a little piece o' work that I recently finished for Virgin's Roger Magazine. It's all about celebrities working in normal office jobs, pretending to be common everyday riff raff like you and I...could you imagine such a scene!?

Thanks to Johanna at YCN who organised and directed the whole affair, and who I have stolen the pictures from. There's a little bit about it on the YCN site here, so please take a peek!

Fanks!

Hunter

Here's a little portrait I did of Hunter S. Thompson for summit or other...I hope's you like it.

In other news ive recently been working on a complete rebrand of a company in the (beautiful) North of England, which is fun and challenging in equal measure. I will post pictures as and when they are deemed suitable by higher powers.

TAKE IT EASY!

Research World

I present to thee a little piece of work that I recently finished for Research World magazine. The article was all about how big companies nowadays have a much harder time convincing the youth of today, 'Generation Y', to buy their products, as todays youth market are more savvy to big marketing techniques than ever before. Interesting!

I hopes you like it.

N.B. Straight after drawing this I drew a picture of two priests high fiving!

Father

This is a portrait of my Father the day before I was born, sadly the parrot, Steven, died three weeks later due to lack of attention...poor thing...!

Lazing On a Sunny Afternoon...

Inspired by The Kinks, and sunny lazy days in the park I created this image...unfortunately all trace of nice weather has since disappeared, so this only last as a cruel reminder of hotter days...

Taxi Driver

Hello.

All going well I hope!? I have recently been working on a couple of very exciting projects. Ive just finished working for a month on a big project, and about to start working on a rebrand of a company that should be very colourful and exciting! Lots of images coming soon...

Inbetween commissions however I have been trying to create lots of new work.

I like the idea of creating images that tell little stories in a very simple way, using suggestion and nuance rather than shoving something in your face. The image above is the first in a number of illustrations that is going to document a taxi journey. The colouring, shading and what-not of the image aren't completely finished yet, but please take a peek and let me know what you think of it.

Thanks a kabillion.

Hop Farm Festival

Ok ok, one more little thing...My illustrations are being used for The Hop Farm Festival again this year. They're being used all over the place. The website is simply cracking and something i am mighty mighty proud of being part of.

Bob (flippin') Dylan, Ray (bleedin') Davies and Van (f-ing) Morrison are headlining this year! Three of my musical heroes which makes me feel all dizzy in the head and wobbly in the leg. Take a look at the festival site here and some of my original drawings here. Hope you like them!

I went to the festival last year and it was such a good old knees up, i'd highly recommend it. Maybe see you there!

We're all in Love

I did this drawing a little while ago just for my own amusement and to fill a small amount of free time, it was either do this or steal lots of cars, i think I chose well...

I love working with a limited colour palette and psychedelic shapes and lines, it fills my little heart with joy. Im going to try and do this lots more in the future.

Click on the image for a nice big fit version of it.

Danke.

Hello there...

Greetings pals, long lost friends and dearest new associates. I present to you my new shiny blog, which will act as a place to display and show you my latest work, early ideas and pointless doodles. Take a peek now and keep popping back if you please as work will be updated here quicker than you can say Jack Robinson...enjoy & thanks!

This first doodle was a piece of work that I submitted for a project that im currently working on that didn't get used. The project is for a super huge company and is nearing completion, so keep your eyes peeled for more work from that.
